Ørsted has announced the completion of a transaction where it sold a 24.5% stake in the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm to funds managed by Schroders Greencoat. The deal, valued at GBP 456.1 million (around DKK 4 billion), closed on April 30, 2025.
The West of Duddon Sands wind farm, located off the UK’s west coast, has been operational since 2014 with a total capacity of 389 MW. As part of the agreement, Ørsted will retain a 25.5% stake in the project, maintaining its role as operator through the existing operations and maintenance agreement.
This deal builds upon the longstanding partnership between Ørsted e Schroders Greencoat, who already jointly manage four other Ørsted offshore wind farms. Trond Westlie, Group CFO of Ørsted, highlighted that the transaction aligns with the company’s strategy of capital recycling and risk diversification, while furthering its renewable energy initiatives.
Ørsted continues to expand its offshore wind portfolio, with more than 8 GW of offshore wind capacity under construction.
